District 86 – Whats Up, Toasties?

There are some exciting things happening in District 86 these days. Here is a snapshot of a few of them.

BLACK WALNUT TOASTMASTERS CLUB 35th ANNIVERSARY, Kitchener ON. Black Walnut club is celebrating their 35th Anniversary at the Walper Hotel in Kitchener, ON on Friday February 8, 2013 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The keynote speaker is Syd Vanderpool, former Welterweight Champion, motivator, trainer, and certified coach. The Master of Ceremonies is Wayne Kuhn, DTM. Tickets are $35. TOPDRAWER TOASTMASTERS ADVANCED CLUB SPEAKING FROM THE HEART EVENT, Cambridge ON. Topdrawer club is holding a special event, Speaking From The Heart, at Grand Valley Golf Club in Cambridge, ON on Friday February 8, 2013 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. This event promises to be an inspirational night with four course dinner and prizes. There will be a maximum of 10 speakers, with two minutes per speech. BRAMPTON GAVEL CLUB YEAR-END HOLIDAY PARTY. The Brampton Gavel Club hosted their first ever Year-end Holiday Party at the end of December. The group has been meeting since September and has grown to 35 members under 18 years of age. Gavel Clubs are affiliates of Toastmasters International. Gavel Clubs are ideal for high schools and colleges where potential members are either below 18 years of age or have yet to embark on their chosen careers. Gavel Clubs have also been formed in rehabilitation institutions, hospitals and elsewhere. There is an article about the Brampton Gavel Club in SNAP Brampton. PORT COLBORNE HIGH – YOUTH LEADERSHIP GRADUATION. Grade 9 students at Port Colborne High School completed an 8 week Youth Leadership Project in December. The Youth Leadership program is sponsored and conducted by Toastmasters International and its local clubs. Youth Leadership helps young people build their communication and leadership skills so they may become tomorrow’s leaders in business, industry and the community. The Port Colborne Youth Leadership Program was led by Garden City Toastmasters members Wayne Buchkowski, Sharon Whitty and Charlotte King.
